Cameron Deon Davis was born on June 6, 1982. His birth parents are still not known to him. He was adopted by a nice couple, Cynthia and Ronnie Davis when he was 5 months old. Cameron did not even have a name until the Davises named him. He was left at the hospital wrapped in a blanket when he was born. The Davises loved Cameron as if he was their birth son. Cameron was once stated, "It's weird, I have never had any desire to find my birth parents. The Lord knew who my parents needed be. The Davises are my parents." Cameron led a dismal basketball career until his sophomore year in college. Cameron often rode the bench. When he would try to get discouraged and want to quit basketball, his father would often tell him, "What if Christ had come down off the cross?" Cameron continued riding the bench. Cameron attended Portsmouth University in his home city of Appel. Cameron wanted to be near his family. Cameron got his turn when the starting point guard for Portsmouth broke his leg. Cameron's father told him, "Son, this is your chance. You go out there and play your best. Show the world that you can play basketball." In Cameron's first game as the starting point guard, he broke the college's single game record for assists and steals. It was time for Cameron's star to shine. That season, Cameron broke the college's records for assists and steals. He now holds the records for most assists and steals at Portsmouth University. Cameron was drafted number 2 overall by the Donnet Angels in 1999. He was traded to the Maddocha City Wolves shortly there after. Cameron bought his parents a home in Maddocha City so that they could be near him. In his spare time, Cameron loves to play tennis and collect trains. Cameron credits his success to God and his parents. "I watched my parents go to work and work hard. They never quit, even when things got bad, they never quit. I thank God that He gave me to my parents and gave my parents to me." |
